St. Andrews Church Kothagudem-CSI

In the beginning   St.Andrew’s church had a very small congregation. During the year 1940, the spirit of god moved the heart of his children and M/SGanon Dunkerly co Ltd., who were the engineers and contractors singareni collieries came forword to construct a church for his glory. Accordingly   small church was constructed and dedicated the same for the divine service on 15th January 1943.about 10 to 12 European and Anglo Indian families were worshipping in the church. Later on it was presented to Telugu congregation.

Diocese of Dornakal of the Church of South India

Dornakal Diocese is one of the 22 dioceses of the Church of South India. It is one of the six dioceses of the Church in the Andra Pradesh state, the other five being Karimnagar Diocese, Krishna-Godavari Diocese, Medak Diocese, Rayalaseema Diocese and Nandyal Diocese.The diocese mainly covers the pastorates under Warangal, Nalgonda, East godavari and Khammam districts and also it has churches in Odissha state.

Azariah, Vedanayagam Samuel (1874-1945)

Born in the village of Vellalanvilai in the southernmost Indian district of Tirunelveli, Azariah was educated in Anglican missionary schools and at Madras Christian College. As a YMCA secretary from 1885-1909, he became a leader of the emerging pan-Asian student missionary movement by establishing the Indian Missionary Society (IMS) in 1903 and the National Missionary Society in 1905. He forged friendships with Western student leaders Sherwood Eddy and John Mott and pleaded for better relations between foreign missionaries and “native” Christians at the 1910 World Missionary Conference in Edinburgh.
